iMDR VIRTUAL RECORDER

The EDUTRONIC iMDR Virtual Recorder is a TRUE Multimedia Language Recorder that enables a student to work in Audio-Active-Comparative mode, either with audio or video programs, in the most efficient way ever achieved by any hardware or software solution available on the world market.

It is universally recognized that, in order to learn new languages, students must follow several didactical activities that allow them to understand native language speakers and speak with them, to improve their pronunciation, to be able to write and read the new language properly and to translate her/his native language into the new language and vice versa.

The new, very powerful EDUTRONIC iMDR Virtual Recorder enables the students to practice in the language learning environment, following the above indicated activities, together with several others as well.
When this software is running, a dedicated control panel is displayed on the student PC monitor and the PC is used as a Multimedia recorder with AAC digital recording of the student activities on the PC Hard Disc.
The EDUTRONIC iMDR software can be used in all EDUTRONIC Multimedia systems. When this software is integrated in the EVOLUTION DML Multimedia Language Lab, it offers the best performances, as it totally interacts with the system control software.

When a system is configured with two students sharing one computer, the EDUTRONIC iMDR software can be launched two times IN THE MEANTIME on the same computer: two iMDR control panels will be opened on the same student monitor and each student will be able to work in a totally independent way, with his own iMDR Virtual Recorder Software. In this way, even if two students are sharing the same computer, each student can work independently in Audio-Active-Comparative mode.

The iMDR Virtual Recorder software offers dozens of extremely helpful tools to the students in order to facilitate improve and increase their learning efficiency. In all their didactical activities, the students can use individually their own iMDR Virtual Recorders, using audio and video programs, doing translation exercises, and working with dictation exercises, etc.

Thanks to this new powerful software, students can now:
  • follow at their own place original audio and video programs,
  • carry out translation exercises,
  • carry out dictation exercises,
  • carry out Multimedia tests created by the teacher through the same software package,
  • carry out many others extremely useful activities

Besides, the EDUTRONIC iMDR Virtual Recorder Software offers the possibility to work in the TRUE Digital Audio-Active-Comparative mode, since it allows to:

  • playback the “master channel” on which the master sentences are spelled by “mother language” speakers

and in the MEANTIME:

  • record the student activity – that is the repetition of the master sentences carried out by the student – on the “student channel”.

Afterwards the student can enable the “sentence repetition” in 4 alternative, EXTREMELY USEFUL, modes. In this way the listen-repeat-compare process – extremely important for the proper pronunciation learning - can be carried out in an extremely efficient way.

Moreover, the student can set up to 99 BOOKMARKS and assign comments to each of them; can immediately access any sentence within the program; can assign comments to each sentence; can enable the “A to B loop repletion”; can go automatically to the next sentence or to the previous sentence; can graphically compare his pronunciation against the speaker pronunciation; can enable the control panel “always on top” function and / or the “small view” function etc.

The EDUTRONIC iMDR software package can be used in several learning environments and can be configured in several ways:

• It can be installed on an individual student computer and a student can work with it in “self study” mode.

 •  It can be installed on the students’ computers of a Multimedia Language Laboratory, like the EDUTRONIC EVOLUTION or the EDUTRONIC EDU NET etc. In this case the system is transformed into an Audio-Active-Comparative digital Language Lab.

   •  It can be integrated into the EVOLUTION DML Multimedia language laboratory. In this situation, it totally interacts with the relative Graphical User Interface (GUI) system control software. (Please see the EVOLUTION DML system documents for more information on this subject).

In all the above indicated examples, it is possible to have “dual student stations” in which two students are sharing the same computer. In this case the EDUTRONIC iMDR software can be launched two times: two iMDR control panels will be opened on the same student monitor and each student will be able to work simultaneously and independently in Audio-Active-Comparative mode in totally independent way with his own iMDR Virtual Recorder Software.
