Glensound Electronics is a specialist manufacturer of outside broadcasting and communications equipment for the radio and television industries where ruggedness and reliability in the field is paramount. The range of broadcast commentator 4 wire systems over coax, multicore and CAT5 circuits enable large television OB's to be co-coordinated with program content and smooth production while systems over ISDN provide distance links into the commentary.

The Glensound range of mixer codecs over ISDN permit complex sports broadcasts to be produced on location with mix minus studio returns integrating the show package. The ability of Glensound to tailor make boxes for dedicated applications provide broadcasters with the facilities required outside the mass production market.

GSG Series ISDN audio codecs

These are mains/battery operated ISDN audio codecs with inbuilt audio mixing panels. In outside broadcast applications these units will cater for 1, 2, 4, or 8 presenters at a remote broadcast location. The colour coded control layout is user friendly for non technical operators and the transportable case provides space for all cables and makes these units excellent fly away option. To partner this series there is a range of rack mount studio dial in units to complete the OB circuit to the studio.

Transmitter reserve and back up system

A total package ISDN land line or STL back up system for transmitter sites. This system monitors the audio coming into the transmitter site and dials up the ISDN line with direct studio audio feed should the primary carrier fail. The system can be controlled and monitored from the studio end and the line can be automatically dropped when the system senses restoration of the primary circuit.

GS-MPI004 BROADCASTERS' MOBILE (CELL) PHONE

The GS-MPI004 has been designed to finally solve once and for all the problems of using mobile phones for audio broadcast purposes.
Our engineers have excelled themselves with this design to make your life as a broadcaster easy, so if you want a reporter to do a quick interview in the high street, or need to use the phone network for 4 wire communications, or want a reliable back up circuit for a codec, or would like to connect a mixer to a phone or indeed for hundreds of other uses then the GS-MPI004 is for you.

To make broadcasting from anywhere in the World easy the GS-MPI004 has a QUAD BAND GSM interface allowing connectivity with most of the Worlds mobile phone networks and a SIM card holder accessible via the front panel to allow different network SIMs or roaming SIM cards to be quickly and easily fitted or changed.

Obviously a portable mobile phone like the GS-MPI004 is battery powered, to prevent it not being charged when you need to use it in a hurry it does not have internal rechargeable batteries but instead is powered from standard readily available AA cells.

What about quality? Because the GS-MPI004 has a digital GSM module the audio quality is the best you will ever get from a phone network. With the audio being in the digital domain separation between the go and return channels is 100% which far outperforms even the very best standard wired telephone hybrids. Our chief engineer has spent a long time perfecting the compressor/ limiter circuit and the audio input circuits to the phone network for you, the result means that you only need to roughly set the input level and the high quality electronics will make sure that your signal is sent without distortion to the studio. As you would expect from Glensound mechanically it is housed in a robust custom made aluminium case that is lightweight but extremely strong, so you don't need to worry if you drop it or bash it, it will keep working.

GSO Series Commentary systems

These systems have been designed specifically for the communications links on outside broadcast television productions where there is a need to co-ordinate

presenters, directors, operators and technical personnel spread out over a wide area. The portable coms boxes are small but contain all the live feeds, monitoring, switching and signalling requirements needed for remote presenters. Systems offer multicore, coax or CAT5 connections to the central base station which is the heart of the network, terminating to the Van on-air and intercom circuits.

GS-PPM003 REMOTE METERING OVER IP

This new system provides an easy to use way of remotely monitoring audio levels.
It is a 2 part system having a hardware audio input subrack where you connect the audio that you wish to monitor, this subrack also connects to your IP network. Elsewhere on your IP network you have the 2nd part which is pc software that receives the audio level data from your IP network and turns it into a graphical interface of a needle or LED PPM.

GSI Series Line identification units

For the identification of copper lines these multiple audio storage units offer non volatile looped recordings of up to 16 seconds of speech enabling quick identification of lines coming into a virgin OB site or intra building pairs.

GSIU Series headphone distribution and mixing

Glensound manufacture a specific range of headphone monitor amplifiers and headphone audio limiters for the broadcasting market. Operators who are wearing cans for extended periods and requiring audio peak level protection will find these systems necessary to reduce the incidence of hearing loss and improve listener comfort level.

GSEC5 15 X 15 audio router

This portable modular audio router provides in field routing and monitoring facilities on a sloping operator panel. Insert points are transformer balanced to deal with long program lines. The rugged self contained unit is equipped with 1kHz ident tones and crosspoint selection is simple and secure.

GSV Series portable mixers

4 Channel Mixer

3 Channel Mixer

The GSV series 3 and 4 channel battery operated portable OB audio mixers are a low cost offering which is ideal for small editing and integration applications.

Portable hearing aid loop amplifiers

A portable hearing aid loop amplifier to withstand the rigours of outside broadcast applications. This system can drive standard a

microphone cable loop enabling monitoring of talkback signals without the need for cable connection

ATM network audio transmission

A revolutionary network audio program distribution system utilising the new AES-47 international standard for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) digital transmission of audio signals. ATM is the base backbone used by Telco networks world wide for the carriage of data signals and provides a low cost broadband solution with efficient connectivity and secure circuits.

GS2U talkback systems

The range of talkback systems offered were originally designed for vehicle use but have been expanded for general purpose applications. Simple and cost effective these systems offer two independent inputs, gooseneck microphone for communications to 4 outside stations.
